  • Perform song and music. Befriend with elders.

  • Befriender’ roles include the following:

  1. Chat with elders.

  2. Oversee elders’ wellbeing during the activities to prevent any accident.

  3. Provide supports such as escort to centre toilet door, escort for group outing, serving meals, etc

  4. This role can be taken up by a singer/musical performer AND can be one of the activities by a befriender. E.g a befriender who can sing some karaoke songs for elders

  • Covered shoes. Bermuda is allowed. No short shorts or short skirts that are too revealing.

  • Location: 136 Bishan Street 12, #01-432, Singapore 570136

  • Orientation and briefing will be provided.

  • Open to split groups of volunteers (contribute for a period of time such as 2 to 6 months by different groups but will serve about twice a month).

Volunteer Role Description


  • Volunteer to engage seniors via 2 face-to-face interaction and 2 phone calls per month minimally to prevent social isolation, monitor senior's well-being, and provide socioemotional support.

  • Exact dates/times of volunteer to be decided and agreed by both the staff in-charge and the volunteer. However, to promote familiarity and bonding between the senior and volunteer, volunteers are expected to at least commit regularly (once per fortnight)

Volunteer Specifications

- Be patient, polite, sensitive and respectful to the needs of seniors, and be able to discern appropriate conversation topics.
- Able to complete online feedback form within 24 hours after engagement with senior (applicable for phone/off-site befriending)
- Proactive, responsible and accountable for other minor tasks assigned.
- Preferably 18 years old and above (Students, Working Adults, Retirees, Seniors)
- No specific gender

- Strict adherence to the current COVID-19 precautionary measures.
- Should the volunteer be unwell or receive text messages from MOH regarding their close contact with a positive COVID-19 case, the volunteer will have to inform the staff-in-charge and not proceed on to volunteer until he/she is cleared.
- Able to commit for a minimum of 3-month period.

Giving out screening kits (e.g., Faecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) kits & assist with sign-up
- Provide thematic health education (at the booth or on foot)

To enhance outreach & value-add service beyond the centre's existing scope.
Chronic conditions do not show obvious symptoms in the early stages. It is essential for individuals to take charge of their health, to go for regular screening to detect any health conditions and manage them early.
Health advocates promote preventive screening programmes and encourage positive health behaviour among patients, loved ones and the community.

Roving Guide

National Healthcare Group Polyclinics (NHGP)

Volunteer Role Description

  • Support & guide patients to build up their digital literacy in the polyclinic / healthcare environment (e.g. use of self-help kiosks, telemedicine, healthhub). 

  • Assist patients in navigate the appointment journey (e.g. wayfinding)

  • Assist in answering any general enquires, move around proactively look out for anyone in need of help 

  • Assist in social distancing measures, crowd control

  • Reduction in starff workload, increase in outreach & value added service beyond centre's exisiting scope. 

  • Educate patients, especially the elderly, to build their confidence in using technololgy such as self-help kiosks, telemedicine and health hub mobile app.

  • Billingual (Spoken English and another language or dialect), relevant training will be provided.

Vulnerable in Community (VIC) Befriender

Volunteer Role Description

  • Support Heartwarmers and Central Singapore CDC's efforts in befriending the Vulnerable in Community (VICs) in Toa Payoh East division at the Friday Weekly giveaway session. These VICs include Cardboard Collectors, Tissue Paper Sellers and also Peddlers.

Volunteer Specifications

  • 21 years old and above who is committed to help on a regular basis every Friday afternoon, 4pm to 6pm.

  • Volunteers who can speak mandarin and/or dialect(s) will be preferred.

  • Slightly tech-savvy will be preferred as volunteers will need to help with the filling of FormSG.
