Volunteer Role Name: Care Neighbours (Toa Payoh)

Volunter Role Description:

  • Together with a team of Social Workers, the volunteer enables and supports seniors to age gracefully in the community by:

    • 1. Conducting regular home visits to befriend seniors, monitor their well-being and medical compliance.

    • 2. Escorting seniors to and from their medical appointments. (Adhoc)

    • 3. Bringing seniors around on wheelchair to run essential errands such as grocery shopping. (Adhoc)

    • *Volunteers may choose to perform some or all three functions. Training will be provided.


Volunteer Specifications:

  • Minimum 18years old and above

  • Both genders welcome

  • Basic reading and writing skills.

  • Able to communicate in any local languages (English, Mandarin, Malay, Tamil) or dialects (eg. Hokkien, Cantonese, etc).

  • Comfortable interacting with elderly. Prior experience interacting with elderly is helpful but not necessary as training will be provided.

Commitment Level:

  • Able to commit 1 – 3hrs every 2 weeks. (Duration may be longer if escorting senior to and from their medical appointments)

  • Able to commit for 3 months or longer.

  • Volunteers will be required to attend 1 training session before being deployed.
